Saint Joseph’s College Board to Resign Accreditation Effective June 30, 2017

RENSSELAER, Ind. – Pursuant to authorization from the Saint Joseph’s College Board of Trustees on Monday, April 3, 2017, the College informed the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) that it will be voluntarily resigning its HLC accreditation effective June 30, 2017.The move to voluntarily resign HLC accreditation avoids the likelihood that the HLC would withdraw its accreditation and allows the College to preserve resources, protect all current grades and degrees, and prepare a path for a future partnership. Voluntary resignation will create a faster pathway to regaining accreditation than if the HLC mandated the withdrawal. The resignation will not affect the College’s accreditation status during the current school year.

Saint Joseph’s College continues its plans to create a team of campus members, including faculty, staff, and Missionaries of the Precious Blood, and Board members who will develop a new experience that will embrace future opportunities and growth potential for the College. In addition, a team of experts, including some alumni, will be created to advise the campus team.

Over the next 24 months, Saint Joseph’s College will work diligently to emerge in a position of strength and viable possibilities for the future. The Board is optimistic about the opportunity to place the mission at the center of its next steps, as the College works to regain accreditation.
